FAT

Factory Acceptance Test

Conducted at the Manufacturer's Facility

A FAT is performed at the manufacturer's or system integrator's facility before equipment is shipped to site. It verifies the equipment has been manufactured and assembled in accordance with the project specification and applicable standards — catching faults before installation.

Visual inspection — physical condition, labelling, nameplate data verification
Electrical tests — insulation resistance, earth continuity, voltage checks
Functional tests — sequences, alarms, emergency stops, interlocks

SAT

Site Acceptance Test

Conducted at the Installation Site

A SAT is performed on-site after installation is complete to verify the equipment has been correctly installed, connected to site services, and performs as designed in its final operating environment — before client handover.

Site conditions — location, clearances, ventilation, anchoring and levelling
Mechanical installation — connections, torquing, pipe and duct integrity
